Welcome to January! The working world is still a bit lethargic after the holiday break and New Year’s celebrations, but there’s no time to relax—a new batch of 2017 award competitions are on their way even as you read this. They’ll creep up quicker than you think.
The new year rush of competitions is something we’re used to at Brave Dog, and we’re ready to deal with it. We’ve put together a quick and handy guide to help you navigate the many major competitions quickly bearing down on us, complete with all the deadlines you’ll need to know. Use this guide to keep up with what you’re entering and when for the rest of the quarter.
PromaxBDA North America Awards
One of the biggest marketing competitions of the year, Promax BDA is a major competition for Brave Dog partners. It focuses on TV spots and promos, digital ads, out-of-home, experiential activations—basically everything that marketers come up with, Promax has a category to recognize.
Promax’s size means that competition is fierce, but its breadth means that lots of great work, in a variety of media, gets recognized. It’s a strong competition for just about anyone to enter, whether you’re representing a huge corporation or a small creative agency.
Deadline: Not yet announced
The Peabody Awards
Focused on recognizing excellence in journalism, documentary, and entertainment, the Peabody Awards look to honor powerful storytelling. Anything from the calendar year of 2016 is eligible, but the priority here isn’t marketing, but content. The Peabodys are open to a wide range of media, including digital storytelling and podcasting, as well, but the final deadline is fast approaching.
Deadline: Jan. 9
New York Festivals World’s Best Advertising Awards
If it’s advertising, New York Festivals honors it. This broad competition looks to recognize all kinds of ads and creative work in the field, from across the globe. Everything from digital offerings to avante-garde ideas has a category, with special emphasis paid to advertising that looks to find new ways of creatively engaging audiences.
Deadline: Jan. 31
Where the PromaxBDA North America Awards are open to advertising and marketing in a number of industries, PromaxGames is all about video games. The program rewards marketing efforts ranging form trailers and social media to digital campaigns, promotional materials, and even in-store displays. There’s also a lot of opportunity for awards for campaigns that are pushing the envelope in new and creative ways.
First deadline: Feb. 10
Final deadline: March 3
The CableFax FAXIES
TV-focused marketing and public relations awards, the FAXIES look for excellence across a number of media, ranging from traditional advertising and marketing to blogging and digital approaches. It also widens the scope to recognize publicists and public relations efforts, while still specifically focusing on the broadband industry.
First deadline: Feb. 24
Final deadline: March 3
